Early Stage Researchers

Deepakkumar is currently working as Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher in Ocular Drug Delivery Group at the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast, UK. He has completed his M.Pharm in Medicinal Chemistry with a focus on antibacterial drug discovery from the Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai, India. He has also worked as Project Fellow involved in the development of novel biomaterials for drug delivery and diagnostic applications at UNESCO Regional Centre of Biotechnology, India.

He has co-authored seven peer reviewed research and review publications in field of drug discovery and co-inventor of one international patent application.

His area of interest include formulation development and chemical biology along with synthetic material development and characterization with a special focus on ocular drug delivery systems. He is currently working on development of intrascleral implants for sustained drug delivery of drug molecules to the posterior segment of eye for tackling diseases such as diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.
