Hákon is a professor at University of Iceland. He graduated from University of Iceland in 2006 with PhD thesis about mucoadhesive polymers and ocular drug delivery. During his PhD studies, he spent one year at Saarland University in a research training program for early stage researchers (Marie Curie Fellowship in the 6th Framework Programme of the European Commission, Euro-PhD in advanced drug delivery). His main research focus has been on drug delivery through skin and mucous membranes. Hakon has been working with cyclodextrins on and off since 1997.
