Inesa Lelyte

Project 15

Early Stage Researchers

I am a senior Master student majoring in Neurobiology at Vilnius University, Lithuania for which I am completing my master thesis on experimental models of glaucoma. During my undergraduate and postgraduate career, I participated in numerous prestigious workshops and summer universities, incl. a Neuroscience School of Advanced Studies in Italy (2018) and successfully completed the certificate course on Laboratory Animal Sciences (2019).

In the Fall of 2019 I was awarded a Ph.D position at the ORBITAL network which is an EU-funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovation Training Network (MSCAITN). The goal of this Ph.D. project is to develop a novel rat model that recapitulates the pathophysiology of diabetic retinopathy and incorporates the contribution of a high-caloric diet. I strongly believe my motivation and intellectual curiosity make me comfortable to tackle new challenges and to start and lead new projects as well as my inquisitive and collaborative nature makes me a great team member well-liked by my peers and supervisors.
